Department of Academic Affairs established in 2012 under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Rana Altaf Ahmed, Executive Director, CPE Institute of Cardiology Multan.
Vision
The foremost vision of the department is to augment the quality of medical education & research in the subject of cardiac specialty. The department also intends to produce well trained health professionals & researchers that can contribute significantly in the medical field of Pakistan.
Mission
The mission of the department is to develop health care wisdom, innovative thinking with the promotion of ethical values & attitudes for delivering highest standards of medical education in tertiary care health facilities. The mission is also to develop the professional capacity building and to promote the culture of research and consultancy.
Goals
Keeping in view, the present day requirements of the subject, the Department of Academic Affairs has following goals:
i. To endow with quality of medical education in tertiary care health services based on strapping theoretical and practical knowledge.
ii. To promote research work at various levels on local, national & international cardiac ailment issues.
iii. To provide the essential and fundamental knowledge in the field of cardiology and skill with training to the graduates.
iv. To suggest the appropriate health policies to decipher the cardiac ailment issues through academic and professional research.
v. To produce medical graduates based on cardiology and cardiac surgery market oriented needs through revised and contemporary curricula.
vi. To promote/extend the opportunities of research and consultancy for local, national and international issues.
vii. To develop the strategic linkages with national & international institutes, providing heart care facilities.

Post Graduate Trainee (Cardiology) Three Years | At first complete two years post graduate trainee after FCPS-I in medicine and allied, then join cardiology for next three years in order to complete the trainee for cardiology FCPS. |
Post Graduate Trainee (Cardiac Surgery) Three Years | At first complete two years post graduate trainee after FCPS-I in general surgery and allied, then join cardiac surgery for next three years in order to complete the trainee for cardiac surgery FCPS. |
BS in Cardiac Perfusion (Four Years) | FSc. (Pre-Medical) or O-Level / an equivalent examination with minimum 50% marks from the recognized institution are eligible for admission to BS in cardiac Perfusion. |
Diploma in Cardiology Two Years | i. MBBS with one year house job in a recognized teaching institute including six months in general medicines/cardiology.ii. Experience as medical office/registrar in the department of cardiology for at least one year in recognized teaching hospital.
ii. Passed UHS entry test. |
Internship Trainee(Pharmacy) Six Weeks | The candidates who are registered with a recognized institute and have at least passed their first four years of professional examination. |
Internship Trainee(Sociology) Six Weeks | The candidates who are registered with a recognized institute and have at least passed first year of their masters’ degree program. |
