Echocardiogram, or simply echo, is a sonogram of the heart. Echocardiography uses standard two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and Doppler ultrasound to create images of the heart.
Echocardiography has become routinely used in the diagnosis, management, and follow-up of patients with any suspected or known heart diseases. It is one of the most widely used diagnostic tests in cardiology. It can provide a wealth of helpful information, including the size and shape of the heart, pumping capacity, and the location and extent of any tissue damage.
Echocardiography department is one of the busiest department in the hospital and is equipped with four (04) state of the art echocardiography machines. Both transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography procedures are carried out routinely. It caters both OPD and indoor patients. Further the mobile echo machines help diagnose the patients on bedside if needed. Highly skilled doctors are available round the clock to provide their services in this regard. Approximately 20000 (twenty thousand) echocardiographies are done each year.
